How we started

It all began in 2003 while I was home with my son. It's hard to believe that journey started more than 20 years ago.

My passion for baking and decorating actually began in the 1990s, when I completed a cake decorating program. Long before I started my business, I had already fallen in love with baking gingerbread cookies. That passion has remained at the heart of everything I create.

In 2003, I turned my love of baking into a business, sharing handcrafted cookies with families, businesses, and organizations throughout the community. In 2022, I expanded my sweet offerings by launching Entertainment Candy, just in time for the Easter season.

Over the years, my cookies have been part of countless special occasions and events. I've participated in gingerbread competitions, created displays for Casa Loma's "Elves in the Workshop" for eight consecutive years, taken part in Winterlicious, helped welcome Santa at shopping centres including Yorkdale, been featured on vendor lists such as Kleinfeld Bridal Toronto, appeared on CP24, and so much more.

In 2023, I proudly celebrated 20 years in business—a milestone that would not have been possible without the incredible support of my clients.

Parties Made Simple

Turning your passion into a business is not easy work, but Marnie, owner of Parties Made Simple, proves it’s not just possible but a dream come true. Marnie began by making cookie decorating and gingerbread house kits to share her love for baking with other families with young kids, something she was experiencing as a new mom when she started her business back in the ‘90s. After branching out into other options, including cake decorating, Marnie returned to her decorating kit roots in 2019, and hasn’t looked back since. From this stemmed the creation of her Entertainment Candy and the launch of her Easter Candy, which have led to Marnie’s success, being featured at events like Winterlicious and Welcoming of Santa, and even gained her a spot on CP24! The thing is, Marnie isn’t just an incredible business leader, she is also devotedly active within her community, assisting with school fundraisers with the help of her cookie kits. Marnie successfully participated in VBEC’s Starter Company Plus and is an inspiration to any business owner looking to transform their passion into purpose!
